FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I book a tour with you?
There are several ways to book a tour with me. I may not always be able to respond immediately but I will always get back to you within 24 hours:
How long are the tours?
Generally speaking, the tours last either a half day (up to 3-4 hours) or a full day (up to 7-8 hours). However, I am happy to design a tour to suit your needs and time frames.
How much does a tour cost?
It depends on the tour but in most cases, the cost is €150 for a half day tour (3-4 hours) and €300 for a full day tour (7-8 hours).
Depending on the tour you choose, there may be some extras such as bike hire, villa entry or entry into some of the churches and museums but I will always tell you upfront what the total cost of the tour so that there are no hidden extras.
Do the tours run all year round?
I am available all year round to be your guide. However, the best times to come to Lucca are generally from March through to November. There may be some periods where its impossible to lead a tour inside the walls of Lucca due to some music festivals and other events such as the Lucca Comics Festival. So its best that you email your dates so that I can best advise on when yo come.
Are the tours suitable for all levels of fitness?
Generally speaking, most levels of fitness can do my tours as they are mostly walking on foot. You do need comfortable shoes however and for the bike and walking tour, you need to be comfortable riding a bike. We don’t go fast on the bikes but you need to be able to stop and start easily as we stop many times to talk about points of interest,
What happens if its raining?
I run my tours even if its raining but sometimes, I may have to adjust the itinerary to suit the weather a little. Please make sure you bring an umbrella and rain poncho!
Are your tours only for small groups?
Yes – I love to meet people and develop a good rapport when I am leading my tours. It is difficult to do this in a large group and the tours become too impersonal for me. For this reason, I much prefer to work with individuals, couples, families and small groups up to 8 to 10 people. Of course I can refer you to one of my colleagues if you have a larger group.
