Bike + Walking Tour
Tour Description
One of our most popular all-round tours, this unique “giro” of Lucca will lead you to discover its renaissance walls, ancient architecture & elegant palazzos. The tour lasts around 3 hours which is just about the right length of time to learn something about the history of Lucca, see some of its works of art, soak up the culture and sample one of the best cappuccinos in town!
Coming from a noble Lucchese family, Federico’s family have strong roots in the area and he is passionate about its history, culture, art, food and wine! His local knowledge is unsurpassed and his tours are original, informative, authentic & delightfully entertaining.
The tour starts with a gentle cycle around the ancient walls of Lucca pointing out places of interest followed by a tour on foot through the medieval streets, stopping where appropriate for refreshments.
Some of the main places visited during the tour include the ancient walls of Lucca, the Cathedral of San Martino, San Michele in Foro, San Giovanni e Reparata, Torre Guinigi, San Frediano, Piazza dell’Anfiteatro, Via Fillungo and Piazza Napoleone. All tours can be customised to suit your interests and time frames.

Duration
3-4 hours
Level of Difficulty
Easy.
The biking component of this tour is very easy. We go slowly and stop regularly to talk about points of interest. Even people who haven’t ridden a bike for 30 years have been able to do my tours easily (and of course, with a little bit of encouragement!). The bikes are suitable for everyone – they are comfortable and children’s bikes are also available.
Meeting Point
The starting point is at Chrono Bike Shop, Corso Garibaldi 93 where Federico will meet you & make sure you are fitted with your bike. The closest Porta is Porta San Pietro.
Tips
Lucca is quite flat but please wear comfortable shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen and water. You may also need a scarf to cover your shoulders if we go into some churches.
